Most people wash too often. Aim for two to three washes per week, focusing shampoo on the scalp and letting suds rinse through the lengths. A daily five-minute scalp massage (dry, with fingertips) increases blood flow to the follicles and supports thickness over months.
What to look for on the back of the bottle
Sulfate-free shampoo (sodium cocoyl isethionate is a gentle alternative). A conditioner with cetyl alcohol and behentrimonium chloride for slip without buildup. Skip silicones (anything ending in -cone) if you tend to feel weighed down.
The weekly rituals worth keeping
